Matthew C. Klein writes for the Financial Times's Alphaville blog about economics and finance. He previously worked at Bloomberg View and at The Economist, and his writings have also appeared in the New York Times and The National Interest. In 2014 he won the Editor and Publisher award for best online infographic on a large website for his work on how Americans die. Before entering a career in journalism, Mr. Klein worked at the Council on Foreign Relations, where he studied the history of the Federal Reserve and monetary economics as a researcher for The Man Who Knew, the definitive biography of Alan Greenspan. Mr. Klein has also worked at Bridgewater Associates, where he studied the economies of Central and Eastern Europe and advised institutional investors on asset-liability management. He received his B.A. in History with distinction from Yale University in 2009. Originally from Chicago, he currently resides in New York City.
